Safety at the Core: A Day on the Job at Alagon

Today, like every day, the focus is not just on restoring balconies or applying fresh paint, it's on protecting the lives of the workers making it happen.

Overseeing the project is Wilkin Marin, the dedicated project manager leading a full-scale commercial painting and concrete restoration effort. “Every move we make is planned with safety first,” says Marin. “Our team’s lives depend on it.”

The project involves removing deteriorated balconies, restoring structural concrete, and applying weatherproof paint all while working several stories above the ground. The risks are real, but so are the precautions. Workers are equipped with full fall protection gear, and daily safety meetings are non-negotiable. Scaffoldings are checked before use, and every demolition is done under strict supervision.

“This isn’t just another job site it’s people’s lives, their families. We treat it that seriously,” Marin emphasizes.

Despite the complexity, progress is steady. While some team members carefully dismantle concrete balconies, others prepare the façade for its protective new coating a critical step in extending the building’s lifespan against the harsh coastal elements.

Still, no schedule is more important than safety. “We'd rather be a day late than a person short,” Marin says. “That’s our culture.”
